[ Phainon arrives at what he considers to be a reasonable time; the hours here are a little odder than what he is used to at home, but at least there is a night sky to find awe in, and a sunrise to enjoy when it comes. That had almost brought him to tears, the first time, and he had forced himself to ignore the way that it had weighed heavily on his heart.
He's rocking on his heels when he gets to Sunday's door, knocking with a bag of food items in one arm and a bright smile on his face, ready and excited. ]
[ The door opens to Sunday, dressed down in a simple button up and slacks. He was tempted to dress up more but they're also... in his own apartment and there's no reason to do so order than propriety. So, he sticks with what he has. And he smiles when he sees Phainon, stepping back to let him inside. ]
It truly is a pleasure to see you once again, Mr. Phainon. I'm glad you asked to come over, I really did want some time to catch up with you.
[ He may not be the Trailblazer, may not have the same connection to Phainon as them, but he does want to build a bond with the other man regardless. After all, he knows it's not so likely once they go back home. ]
[ He notes the hypocrisy there, but he was raised to be polite, and he's not going to ignore those instincts just because he's in another world!
Instead, he walks into the apartment. It's not too different from the one he shares with Mydeimos, which makes sense, so he heads towards the kitchen to unpack, expression warm and content. He finds a lot of peace in cooking, especially when he can prepare food for other people. ]
Consider the entire evening hours, then. I'd like to get to know you better too.
[ Sunday will close the door behind him as Phainon steps into the apartment and follow him to the kitchen as well. His place is a large studio, pretty standard. And Sunday is fine with it at the moment, the space is enough for him. In the kitchen, he'll watch as Phainon pulls the groceries free and tries to see what type of dinner he's going to make based on the ingredients he spots. ]
That works for me. I apologize for not following up with you sooner after the ball, I suppose I just lost track of time. It's a little easy to do that here, I realize.
[ Both being hyperaware of yourself because of the nature of the reality TV but also not being able to bring yourself to let everything you do be seen. It's a strange sensation. ]
I'm still finding it hard to adjust to night and day. Keeping to a regular routine is much easier with a sunrise and sunset!
[ Phainon has done what he can to forget about the part where he is being watched at all times, looking at his ingredients. It'll be enough for a simple meal; some cooked meats, a salad, a small pair of cakes for a dessert. It's nothing particularly fancy, but it's home-cooked, which makes it better, right?
Shaking his head, he looks over to Sunday and smiles. ]
I'm not offended, if you were worried. We'll simply have to make more of an effort.
[ Ah, right. Okhema was perpetually in daylight, wasn't it? It must've been quite a shock for Phainon to settle somewhere with a day and night cycle, even if it's just for now. Sunday can't help but feel sympathetic towards him. ]
It certainly is. I can somewhat understand — Penacony did not have a structured day and night cycle either. There were some locations perpetually in nighttime, some perpetually in daybreak. What you ended up seeing would depend on where you went.
[ But right, back to this. He nods his head. ]
Yes, of course. I would love to spend more of my time with you. You're ... a kind man, I've discovered and I don't want to miss out on your warmth.
[ An effusive compliment, he knows, but he means it. ]
That sounds marvellous! I think I would like to see more worlds, once we're done here. Should our wishes come true, and we're sent back.
[ A world like Penacony, one that he has never really heard of before now, with different cycles of night and day... So many other worlds, and so many other stories to hear. It feels like a foolhardy thing to want, and it cannot compare to the only wish he has ever been able to make.
Turning, he looks at Sunday, expression settling into something warmer.
Friendships are hard for him to hold on to, with the memories that he has, and he does not want to lose this budding one. ]
Consider me at your service, in that case. I'll make your dinner whenever you'd like.
I truly hope you're able to, Phainon. I think you, of all people, deserve to have your wish come true.
[ Phainon's story, after all, was shared to Sunday by the Trailblazer. As I've Written is also something spread far and wide in the universe now. His story can't be lost into nothing, and Sunday knows how important it is for him to have his wish. ]
Ha... depending on how dinner goes tonight, I might end up taking you up on that offer quite a lot. I'm not much of a cook myself.
Me, of all people? I don't think of myself as anything special!
[ Blind, of course, to the publication of his life story, to the work the Trailblazer put in to sharing it, to ensuring that his world would be born. Phainon is stuck in Irontomb, hating himself. ]
I enjoy cooking, and I often make too much. It would be no trouble to share more with you.
[ Not that he considers himself any kind of true hero. Phainon is not the real Deliverer, for all that he might cling to the term; he is just... Phainon. Khaslana. A beast, burning in the flame of the sun.
Glancing over at Sunday, his smile widens a little, something softer on his face. ]
[ For a brief, wild moment, Sunday entertains the thought of kissing Phainon. Of course, they'd kissed before, at the ball but there were circumstances around that, weren't there? Alcohol and aphrodisiacs and the setting itself. But here, in Sunday's apartment, there's no real excuse for it other than Sunday's own desire thrumming through him.
He really should not.
So, he clears his throat for a moment and steps closer, not in an effort to kiss but in an effort to be useful. ]
Tell me how I can help. Let me be your sous chef tonight.
[ Sunday will go digging through Phainon's bag then, pulling out the seasonings that he enjoys so he can season the meat when they get there. He pulls out mostly savory seasonings, nothing too spicy, and when Phainon asks him about it — he gives a soft shake of his head. ]
I can't handle things that are too spicy. I love flavorful food but the spice overpowers it for me. What about you?
[ Oh. That is... close. Phainon is so close now that with a slight flutter, Sunday's wings brush across Phainon's cheek and causes Sunday to duck his head slightly, shy. ]
Of course, you got it.
[ And he will... pull the meat closer to start to season it, trying not to think of their proximity. ]
[ It's... Cute, the way his wings flutter, and Phainon doesn't move, allowing it to happen. What he actually does is lean in even more, peering at the seasoning as he goes.

[ Just said quietly and contemplatively before he moves on, to the less dangerous topic of cooking. He laughs a little at Phainon's generosity. ]
Then, I will gladly have what you share. Starting with tonight. Thank you for coming over, once again. It really is nice to have your company.

I would love to. Just tell me which ones to use and I'll get right to work.
